How to Increase Order Value: Cross-Selling in Storekeeper

Updated Jul 2, 2026 · 16 views

Do you want to generate more revenue from the number of visitors you already have? Then cross-selling is the solution. The principle is simple: you offer customers a product that logically complements what they already have in their shopping cart. It’s the digital version of asking, “Would you like some fries with that?”

Below, we’ll explain how to use this feature in Storekeeper.

Why Cross-Selling? 3 Examples

Cross-selling is all about completing a purchase. It works in almost every industry.

1. Fashion (Complete the Set) A customer is looking at a winter coat. Through cross-selling, you immediately show them a matching scarf and hat. The customer sees a whole outfit instead of just one item, making it more likely they’ll order everything at once.

2. Home & DIY (Make sure they don’t forget anything) You’re selling a lamp or a can of paint. Customers often forget that they’ll also need a light bulb or paintbrushes. By bundling these items, you sell more and prevent the customer from getting frustrated at home because they forgot the batteries.

3. Gifts (Extra Service) Someone is buying a birthday gift. Immediately offer a gift-wrapping service, a card, or batteries. These are small amounts, but they do lead to higher online store revenue.

Getting Started: Setting Up Cross-Selling

In Storekeeper, you decide which products are displayed together. You do this in two steps: linking them in the Back Office and enabling them on the website.

Step 1: Link products in the Backoffice

Here, you specify which products belong together (for example: this belt goes with these pants).

  1. In the Backoffice, go to Products.

  2. Click on the main product (e.g., the winter coat) to edit it.

  3. On the right side of the page, look for Upsell, Cross-sell, Add-on, and select Cross-sell.

  4. Click the green button in the top-right corner: “Link products to this product.”

  5. Search for and check the products you want to link (e.g., the scarf).

  6. Click the blue “Actions” button on the left and select “Link all items.”

The products are now linked to each other.

Step 2: Make them visible on the website

Now we’ll make sure customers see the suggestions on the product page.

  1. Go to the Website Editor.

  2. Go to the Product Page via the menu.

  3. Scroll to the “Related Products” block.

  4. Click on the block to open the settings.

  5. In the right-hand menu, set the Product Type (or Source) to Cross-sell or a combination of Cross-sell with Upsell/Related Products.

  6. Click Publish.

Important to know: When you change this setting, this block will only display the products you manually linked in Step 1.

  • Advantage: You have full control over what the customer sees (perfect for “Shop the Look”).

  • Note: If you select only “Cross-sell” but haven’t linked any items to a specific product, the block will remain empty on the website. We therefore recommend combining this with “Related Products.” This prevents empty blocks, since the website automatically fills in related products for you.
