With product add-ons in StoreKeeper, you can easily add extra options, flavors, upgrades, or matching accessories to your base products.
Before you start setting things up in the back office, it’s important to determine which type of add-on best suits your products. Not sure yet whether you need a “single option,” “multiple options,” or, for example, a “custom text”? Then start by reading our Breakdown of Product Add-ons in StoreKeeper . For a visual explanation, check out our instructional video via this link: [Link to instructional video].
Step 1: Open the Add-on app Go to the App Store in the back office, search for “product add-on groups,” and open or install this app.
Step 2: Create a new Add-on group
In the app, go to the overview (add-ons) and click “Create.”
Enter a title that the customer will see, for example: “Is it a gift? Have it wrapped” or “Choose a flavor” or “Add a message/name.”
Select the option type. There are several options:
For a choice between packaging options, select “single option.” Here, you can also opt for a customer text (e.g., for a card) or a required image (e.g., for a cake print).Set the position (for example, choose position ‘0’ to display it first) and save the add-on.
Step 3: Create the add-on options as separate products Products must always be linked to an add-on. So you must first create the packaging options as separate products:
Go to the main menu and select “Add Product.”
Create the products (for example: “wrapping paper for her” or “wrapping paper for him”).
Important settings: If the add-on product is out of stock, it cannot be ordered. Adjust the stock/availability based on the add-on. In this example, the best option is “unlimited availability.” This is because wrapping paper is always in stock at this fictional company. Also, don’t forget to link the product to the “webshop” sales channel; otherwise, the option will be invisible to customers. This setting can be found at the bottom right of the product page. Then save the products.
Also create the product “None [enter the relevant add-on here].” So, in the case of this example, this is “No wrapping paper.”
Step 4: Link the products as options in the Add-on app
Go back to the App Store, open the Add-on app, and navigate to the add-on you just created.
Navigate to “Options” and click the “Add Product” button.
Find the product(s) you just created (such as the deluxe packaging options) and add them.
Adjust the price if desired. You can enter any price here, even if you want to offer the option for free (€0). Save your changes.
Step 5: Link the Add-on to the main products in your online store
Now you need to specify which products in your store or online shop this add-on should be displayed with.
In the add-on settings, go to “Products that use the options” and click “Add.”
Select the products that should have the add-on applied.
Tip for online stores with many products: Scroll to the bottom right and set the number of rows per page to 500. Scroll back to the top, click the "Action" button, choose "Select all on current page" or manually select the desired products, click "Action" again, and add all selected products to the add-on group at once.
Step 6: Check the online store
Go to your online store’s live environment, refresh the page, and/or clear the cache for a product you selected in Step 5, then check whether the add-on options are displayed correctly.
